Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers. We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world. Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains, we are currently seeking a number of experienced Head of Modernisation Delivery to join HSBC Technology. The key purpose of this role is to work closely with our leadership team to define, scope, shape, and deliver our future state Digital Channels. This is a complex change journey that will involve multi-year architecture, technology, people, and process change. You will be responsible for the overall delivery of change, which will be executed through both directly funded investment in modernisation, and indirectly by seeking opportunities within our ‘business as usual’ portfolio of regulatory and business discretionary investment What you will be doing; • Ensure that the modernisation vision, journey, and benefits are well communicated, and that they are grounded in achievable investment and delivery roadmaps. • Influence strategy and shape the delivery approach across a series of projects or component activities, building stakeholder buy-in around plans, commitments and changes. • Align OKRs for all initiatives across Digital Channels to achieve maximum transformational benefit (towards target state) from the existing regulatory and discretionary portfolio. • Create funding cases where modernisation cannot be achieved, or not achieved at an acceptable pace, within existing investment programmes. • Promoting modern ways of working changes across the Digital Channels team, including uplift in methodology, digital skills, and the adoption of Agile/DevOps/SRE practices. • Remove manual effort, streamline processes, and grow a self-service culture to make it easier for our engineers to get their work done. • You will be expected to manage through influence as well as lead a small team of 8-10 people. • The technical aspects of this role will focus on Programme, Portfolio, and Change Management to achieve the desired end state. • Manage the reporting of progress, issues, dependencies, and risks appropriate to a change of this scale and significance. • Work across business and technology to establish effective strategies and controls to ensure we can safely manage large change modernisation to our critical platforms and services, including compliance to HSBC’s Business Transformation Framework, and Risk and Controls framework. • Manage negotiation with, and management of, third-party contracts with technology suppliers. Requirements What you will bring to the role; To be successful in this role you should have proven experience within the Technology sector with knowledge of the following skills:

• Achieving a digital transformation in a large, complex multinational organisation • Programme Management background • Experience of working in a regulated environment • Delivery focused, strategic and forward looking • Great attention to detail and an ability to identify and manage risk • Nurturing ways of working change throughout an organisation and internationally across different cultures • High social and emotional intelligence, interpersonal, problem solving and organisational skills • Technical know-how ideally working with digital channels, application modernisation, and move to Cloud • Exposure to implementing Agile, Design Thinking, SRE and DevOps methods and approaches This role will primarily be based in London or another UK base location, some travel may be required.
